Make a Samurai Story Scroll
(30 minutes)
Make a scroll, a rolled up book, like the ones they used in warrior days in Japan. Illustrate it by drawing the story of two famous warriors and their horses. Instead of reading from left to right, like we read a book, your story scroll will read from right to left. That’s the Japanese way.

1. If
you are a Mac user: Pull down the 'File' menu at the top of
your screen, go to 'Page Setup', and reduce the page size to
82%.

2. Now you’re ready to do your project. Take the papers you just printed out, gather the materials you need, and find a good place to play! |

3. Write your name on the line on Sheet #1. |
 |
4. Tape the five sheets together to make one long sheet, starting with Sheet #1 on the far right and ending with Sheet #5 on the far left. Your story will read the Japanese way, from right to left. |

5. Read the story and draw each scene as you imagine it. |
