Make a Paper Canoe

Make a canoe like the ones used by Northwest Coast Indian people. Cut out the canoe, decorate it with animals and shapes, and put it together.

SUPPLIES:

• Crayons, colored pencils or markers
• Scissors
• Glue

STEPS:

	1.  If you are a Mac user:  Pull down the 'File' menu at the top of your screen, go to 'Page Setup', and reduce the page size to 82%.
	2.  Now you’re ready to do your project. Take the papers you just printed out, gather the materials you need, and find a good place to play!
	3.  Cut out the canoe shape along the solid black lines.
	4.  Fold canoe in half along the center line.
	5.  Fold back either side along the dotted lines.
	6.  Fold and glue the ends of your canoe together.
	7.  Look at the different animals and creatures. Decorate your canoe with your favorite animal.
	8.  Color the canoe with crayons, colored pencils, or markers.
	9.  Don’t forget to think of a cool name for your canoe.   10. Paddle away!
