Brave Maya Ballplayer The Maya word for ballgame was Pok-ta-pok. (Doesn't that sound like a ball bouncing?) One to four players made up a team and scored points by hitting a marker, a stone ring located at the side of the court. Sometimes the ballgame was played for blood - captured kings and nobles were forced to play before they were sacrificed.
